Publisher and developer Mythic Entertainment announced today it will release a fourth expansion pack for its massively multiplayer online role-playing game Dark Age of Camelot.
Entitled Dark Age of Camelot: Catacombs, the expansion will bring instanced content to the franchise for the first time. To be featured in the upcoming World of Warcraft MMORPG, instanced content creates alternate, "private" versions of the same area, allowing groups of players to engage in simultaneous adventures without interfering with one another.
Instanced dungeons support a more-casual gaming style by giving players exclusive play sessions for groups of all levels and abilities, said Matt Firor, Mythic's vice president of development and executive producer.
The expansion will also sport five new player classes, as well as a new underground city for each of the game's realms. Full of new dungeons, monsters, and treasure, each city will feature a plotline based on a particular underground race's history.
GameSpot will have further details on Dark Age of Camelot: Catacombs as its scheduled December 2004 release date approaches.
