Apr 19, 2025 12:35 PM

THQ has announced that a handheld version of its motocross game CMX 2002 featuring Ricky Carmichael will be released for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. The GBA game will feature five customizable bikes, more than 20 individual events, and 30 professional riders. Riders include such freestylers as Carey Hart, Trevor Vines, and Mike Jones and top racers such as Mike LaRocco, Kevin Windham, and, of course, Carmichael himself. The game will also include several new tricks and stunts and the ability to show eight riders on the GBA screen at one time.

"THQ is thrilled with the success of the CMX franchise," said Michael Rubinelli, vice president of product development for THQ. "We are committed to dominating the motocross genre and plan to deliver the most realistic motocross game on the Game Boy Advance with more real tracks, riders, equipment, and sponsors than any handheld system has ever seen."

CMX 2002 featuring Ricky Carmichael is being developed by Tiertex and will be released on the Game Boy Advance this summer.
