Treyarch continues to update and add new content to the Call of Duty: Black Ops III multiplayer beta, which was recently extended for an extra day on PlayStation 4, and now ends tonight at 10 PM PDT.
First, Treyarch has raised the beta's level cap from 34 to 40. This is actually the second time since the beta went live on August 19 that the level cap has gone up. In addition, a new Specialist, Spectre, has been added to the mix as the latest playable character.
Spectre is a mysterious Specialist, Treyarch writes on the Call of Duty website.
"Next to nothing is known about the presumed wet-works Specialist, Spectre. Despite heavy redaction, all accounts suggest an individual capable of extraordinary stealth, able to evade or neutralize the most sophisticated of manned or automated security set-ups," Treyarch said in its description of Spectre. "In every case, Spectre's victims have been 'handled' with surgically precise mid-line wounds with rarely any signs of struggle."

Treyarch also reiterated that a new mode, called Stronghold, has been added to the Black Ops III beta rotation. This is an attack and defend-style mode where the attacking team tries to escort a robot drone to the enemy squad's base. The drone only moves, however, when a player is standing next to it. Defenders can disable to robot by doing enough damage to it, which causes it to shut down.
As announced previously, PS4 players get to try the beta first as part of Sony's new exclusivity deal with Activision. PlayStation players also get a free Zombies theme just for trying the beta out.
Xbox One and PC users will get to play August 26-30. The beta, the first public one for Call of Duty in years, will not be held on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
