Call of Duty: Black Ops II PC gets dedicated servers
Call of Duty: Black Ops II PC gets dedicated servers-April 2024
Apr 20, 2025 5:05 AM

Call of Duty: Black Ops II for the PC will offer ranked dedicated servers, according to a tweet from Treyarch director of technology Cesar Stastny. Dedicated ranked servers are coming to Black Ops II.

The behemoth shooter series has been inconsistent with this much-clamored-for PC feature. In 2009, the PC community roared against Infinity Ward's new IW Net multiplayer offering for Modern Warfare 2, which dropped dedicated servers altogether.

Treyarch brought dedicated servers back in 2010's original Black Ops, and last year's Modern Warfare 3 had dedicated servers, but they were unranked, meaning the server administrator controlled all unlocks.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is due out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on November 13. It is a sequel to 2010's original Black Ops, which is the best-selling series entry to date, moving more than 25 million copies as of August 2011.
