Activision announces DJ Hero Renegade Edition
Activision announces DJ Hero Renegade Edition-April 2024
Apr 19, 2025 10:59 AM

When Activision announced plans to take its multibillion dollar Hero franchise beyond guitars and rock and into the electronica and hip-hop genre, budding bedroom DJs began salivating at the thought of scratching up a storm. Today the company announced plans to release a premium version of its turntable-based game with additional features.

Dubbed the DJ Hero Renegade Edition, the bundle will ship with a premium turntable controller featuring a custom black finish and gold-coloured metal controls, and will come housed in a hard shell turntable carrying case that converts into a raised DJ stand. Also included will be a copy of the game software and a double CD pack with unreleased music from Jay-Z and Eminem--both of whom are providing playable music for the game. Activision confirmed that no additional in-game content or bonus DLC will be included with the bundle.

An Activision spokesperson told GameSpot AU that they "do not provide recommended prices for Australian game retailers", but calls to the major Aussie game sellers confirmed prices of A$179.95 for the standard edition game and hardware package on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii platforms, and A$159 for the PlayStation 2. The Renegade Edition will clock in at the considerably higher price of A$299.95 when it ships in October this year.
