Titanfall's 48GB install size on PC is so the game is able to run better on low-spec machines, developer Respawn Entertainment has said.

　　It's all down to the uncompressed audio, Respawn lead engineer Richard Baker explained to Eurogamer. By using uncompressed audio, the game can perform better on less capable hardware.

　　"When you download the game or the disc itself, it's a lot smaller than that," said Baker. Downloading the game on Xbox One clocks in at around 17GB, whereas reports say the PC download on Origin weighs about 20GB.

　　"So... it's almost all audio... On a higher PC it wouldn't be an issue. On a medium or moderate PC, it wouldn't be an issue, it's that on a two-core [machine] with where our min spec is, we couldn't dedicate those resources to audio," added Baker.

　　Titanfall's minimum specifications are comparatively modest compared to many other titles:
