The 3DO Company is streamlining its development group, and as part of that streamlining process, 3DO announced today that the company's Cyclone Studios division is moving to 3DO's Redwood City headquarters.
As another aspect of that attempt to streamline, Richard J. Hicks III has been promoted to the position of senior vice president of product development. His role includes the management of all of 3DO's personal computer and console development resources.
3DO chairman Trip Hawkins said, "Richard has tenure in the industry, strong technical experience on console and PC, and is expert at managing technical groups. He will play a significant role influencing and guiding our development groups to support the Company's goals. Richard's promotion supports our strategy of internally developing all of our games and is an indication of our progress and success."
3DO also announced that its holiday plans include the release of the following titles: Uprising 2: Lead and Destroy for the PC, Uprising X for the PlayStation platform, Vegas Games 2000 for the PC (which was released in October), Heroes of Might and Magic II Gold for the PC, and BattleTanx, which will be 3DO's first Nintendo 64 game.
The company expects to release Requiem: Avenging Angel, Army Men II, Heroes of Might and Magic III, Might and Magic VII, and High Heat Baseball 2000 for the PC before its fourth quarter is out. Upcoming 3DO PlayStation releases include Army Men 3D, High Heat Baseball 2000, and Vegas Games 2000.
