3dfx Set to Demo Voodoo5
3dfx Set to Demo Voodoo5-April 2024
Apr 23, 2025 1:21 PM

Early this morning, 3dfx announced plans to publicly demonstrate its upcoming Voodoo5 graphics card at three hardware trade shows this spring. Show goers at the Intel Developer Forum in Palm Springs, Calif., CeBit 2000 in Hanover, Germany, and Macworld Expo/Tokyo 2000 in Tokyo, Japan will get to watch the company's new VSA-100 chipset in action.

The Voodoo5, which boasts up to four VSA-100 chips running in tandem, supports full-scene anti-aliasing with almost no drop in performance, as well as cinematic effects like real-time motion blurring, depth-of-field blurring, and soft shadows and reflections. During last year's Comdex in Las Vegas, 3dfx publicly revealed that the video card's target fillrate is expected to top 1.5GP/S for the top-of-the-line model, which would make it nearly three times faster than the Nvidia's GeForce 256.
