Xbox One Dashboard Update Video Takes Closer Look at Home Screen-October 2024
Oct 25, 2024 8:24 PM

Microsoft has released a new video showcasing some of the changes being made as part of the upcoming Xbox One Dashboard update. More specifically, it looks at the home screen, which has been redesigned to be less cluttered and provide a more user-friendly navigation experience.

The video is narrated by Larry Hyrb, also known as Major Nelson, and Richard Irving from the company's engineering team. The new Xbox One Dashboard is built on Windows 10 and, as showcased in the video, introduces vertical scrolling. Pins have also been shifted to their own section, and new shortcuts have been added--among other things.

This is considered to be a "major" Xbox One system update and has been referred to by Microsoft as the New Xbox One Experience. It is scheduled to launch on November 12, along with another long-awaited feature: backwards compatibility.

Microsoft has said there will be more than one hundred games supported when backwards compatibility launches, with "hundreds" more coming later. All future Xbox 360 Games With Gold titles will also be backwards compatible. The initial lineup of supported games can be seen here.

Criterion Games has confirmed its critically acclaimed 2008 racing game Burnout Paradise will be one of the last-generation titles playable on Xbox One through backwards compatibility, but didn't say when it will be available.
