Windows 10 Reaches 110 Million Installs-October 2024
Oct 28, 2024 6:22 AM

Microsoft's latest Windows operating system, Windows 10, has reached a new milestone. During a special event in New York City on Tuesday, Microsoft announced that the OS has reached 110 million installs in its first 10 weeks across all devices. That's up from 75 million installs at the end of August. By 2018, Microsoft is aiming for Windows 10 to reach 1 billion devices.

Windows boss Terry Myerson also announced other key statistics about Windows 10 during the presentation, including that users have loaded 650 billion web pages. In addition, players have streamed more than 120 years worth of content from Xbox One to Windows 10 through the new streaming functionality.

On top of that, users have asked 1 billion questions to Windows 10's new Siri-like digital assistant, Cortana, while users have visited the Windows 10 app store 1 billion times. Myerson also revealed that Facebook is developing new Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger dedicated apps for Windows 10.

Finally, Myerson said Windows 10 users are spending more time watching Netflix through the Windows 10 app than through Netflix's own website. He also reiterated that Windows 10 integration for Xbox One will arrive this holiday, though a specific release date was not announced.

The Microsoft event is ongoing; check back later for more.
