Naughty Dog's acclaimed PlayStation 3 exclusive The Last of Us has notched up another award over the weekend, this time bringing home the gong for the Writer's Guild of America's Outstanding Achievement in Writing for Video Games.
Creative director Neil Druckmann received the award, with the post-apocalyptic tale of survivors Joel and Ellie trekking from Boston to Utah (unsurprisingly) beating out Batman: Arkham Origins, God of War: Ascension, and Lost Planet 3.
To be eligible for the WGA award, submitted games are required to have a separate credit for writing, and the credited writer(s) must be, or apply to be, a member of the WGA's Videogame Writers Caucus. Membership costs $100 a year, though Naughty Dog can probably afford it, as The Last of Us sold over 3.4 million copies in its first month on sale.
In responding to messages of congratulations on Twitter, Druckmann said "thanks for all the kind words, y'all. Once again I couldn't be prouder to be a Naughty Dog. Shout out to all my fellow nominees!"
The Last of Us also dominated the People's Choice category in GameSpot's Game of the Year 2013 awards.
