Street Fighter 5 Beta Postponed Indefinitely Following Widespread Server Problems-September 2024
Sep 20, 2024 4:40 PM

Capcom has officially postponed its beta test for Street Fighter V until a later date following significant problems with its servers and stability.

The developer announced today that it is stopping the test indefinitely while it works to build up the servers. On a post on Capcom's website, Associate Producer Peter Rosas explained that this beta essentially doesn't count as a true test, and Capcom will still hold three more beta tests for the game in the future. In addition, players who preordered the game and got access to the beta will still have access to the next test.

As a means for apology, Capcom is also planning on creating an "in-game incentive" for all players who signed up to the beta.

"We understand how frustrating it is to be so close to playing the game you are excited for, and to not have it working," Rosas wrote. "The whole team here is very disappointed that we were unable to deliver a proper beta experience this time. Thank you so much for your continued support, and we promise that we will have a better experience for you with the future betas."

This beta test went live last week on July 23. As soon as it launched, players started reporting problems and Capcom was forced to do maintenance on the servers several times.

Just yesterday, Capcom took down the game's servers for maintenance. The studio promised that it would extend the beta for several days to make up for the server troubles, but the problems apparently proved to be too big for Capcom to fix in such a short time.

Street Fighter V launches next year for PlayStation 4 and PC. Recently, the developer revealed that all DLC that will come to the game can be unlocked by playing.
