Activision has announced that Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix, its latest first-person shooter, has gone gold and will soon ship to stores. The game is the follow-up to the gritty action game Soldier of Fortune, which was released in 2000. The new game again lets players assume the role of John Mullins, a military consultant working for a top-secret agency on a variety of missions.
Soldier of Fortune II improves on its predecessor in a number of ways, including better skeletal animation, a new random mission generator, enhanced hit locations, and better graphics. Players will have to use both stealth and firepower in a wide range of missions including hostage rescues, intelligence gathering, and search-and-destroy assignments. The game also has four different multiplayer modes including deathmatch, team deathmatch, elimination, and infiltration.
Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix was developed by Raven Software and will be available in stores the week of May 21 for an approximate retail price of $49.99. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
