Update: Take-Two has officially announced Rockstar's acquisition of Ruffian Games and the studio's rebranding as Rockstar Dundee (a reference to Ruffian being located in Dundee, Scotland). A price was not shared, not was there any official word on exactly what the studio will be working on.
"We are incredibly excited to be joining the Rockstar team," said Ruffian co-founder Billy Thompson. "Not only do we have the opportunity to work on some of the most successful entertainment properties in the world, but Rockstar's investment in our studio is a great sign for the continued expansion of game development here in Scotland."

Original Story: Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 publisher Rockstar Games has allegedly bought out Crackdown 3 co-developer Ruffian Games. The acquisition has resulted in the developer being rebranded as Rockstar Dundee.
According to The Gamer, Rockstar Dundee has been assisting with the development of "unspecified titles" for Rockstar's games since 2019, when the company was looking for engineers. The studio started a similar hiring spree in August 2020, with all positions focusing on "projects with our partner Rockstar Games." There's no word on what these projects are.
We've reached out to Rockstar Games for comment.
Rockstar Dundee, when it was Ruffian Games, was responsible for Crackdown 2, as well as the multiplayer component for Crackdown 3. The studio also lent a helping hand to 343 Industries on Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Terminal Reality on Kinect Star Wars.
