Pokemon Stadium--the Pokemon franchise's first-ever jump from portable to home-based consoles--is coming to the Nintendo Switch Online library of N64 games April 12.
Pokemon Stadium lets players battle in both single-player challenges like the Gym Leader Castle and multiplayer modes like the minigame-focused Kids Club. The game features all 151 Pokemon from the Red/Blue/Yellow era, as well as trainers from the inaugural Pokemon adventure.
The single-player modes will let players build a team with stock Pokemon each with its own moveset and stats. The import feature from the original launch--where those who played the Game Boy games could import Pokemon from the handheld to the console--will not carry over to the Nintendo Switch Online version.
Minigames in the Kids Club section include the Simon Says-like Clefairy Says, Magikarp's Splash where timed button presses make Magikarp flop higher, and Ekans' Hoop Hurl, a ring toss game where Ekans is the ring and Digletts act as the pegs.
Pokemon Stadium joins Goldeneye 007, Mario Party, and Pilotwings as recent additions to the Nintendo Switch Online's Nintendo 64 library. Future releases already confirmed by Nintendo include Pokemon Stadium 2, 1080 Snowboarding, and Excitebike 64.
