PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Surpasses 4 Million Copies Sold-April 2024
Apr 1, 2025 9:05 AM

After only three months of its debut in Steam Early Access, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has won the preference of players and has become a multiplayer phenomenon in a very short time.

Today Bluehole Studio announces and celebrates its competitive survival shooter for surpassing the threshold of four million copies.

Just in April, Bluehole announced that the title reached a million copies sold after its first month, now in the following two months it has sold three additional million units. This is just the beginning, with the studio planning to launch Battlegrounds on the Xbox One console (with support for the enhanced X system) before the end of the year.

According to SteamCharts, 125,709 players are in the game right now with a daily peak of 211,090 and an all-time peak of 231,821.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available on Steam Early Access for a price of $29.99 and basically, it is about being the only competitor standing after a great showdown in which you will have to use any means necessary to defend yourself and finish off all the other competitors in an atmosphere of increasing pressure, strategy, and surprise. It's Battle Royale or, if you prefer, the best gaming version of The Hunger Games yet.

PLAYERUNKNOWN aka Brendan Greene, is a pioneer of the Battle Royale genre. As the creator of the Battle Royale game-mode found in the ARMA series and H1Z1 : King of the Kill, Greene is co-developing the game with veteran team at Bluehole to create the most diverse and robust Battle Royale experience to date.

Recently, it was also announced that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will incorporate a new assist mechanic that will not allow your squad members to steal your kills. Furthermore, Bluehole will soon add new weather effects, the ability to vault over objects and replays.

In terms of content, two new maps were announced, one set in the Adriatic region and another in Peru. There's no set release date for either of those, however.
