Persona Series Has Now Sold Over 15 Million Games-October 2024
Oct 18, 2024 6:21 PM

The Persona video game series continues to set new personal best milestones, as the franchise has now sold over 15 million units as of March 31. According to the financial statement for the latest Atlus fiscal year as spotted by Persona Central, sales have increased by almost two million units since the previously reported sales record from March 2020, which was announced in Sega Sammy’s integrated report from that time.

It's worth noting that these figures include digital sales as well, with games such as Persona 5 Royal shifting over 1.8 million copies in total since its late 2019 debut and the Muso spin-off Persona 5 Strikers managed to sell through 1.3 million copies after it was published in February 2020.

Persona 4 Golden has done especially well on PC, selling over 1 million copies globally after it was released on June 13, 2020. Combined with the 1.5 million copies of the game sold on the PlayStation Vita, that brings the sales total to over 2.4 million copies for that game alone.

The success of Persona 4 Golden on Steam has resulted in Sega considering how it does business, as the publisher is looking to port more of its catalog to PC in the future. With games such as Yakuza: Like a Dragon also being successful on multiple platforms, Sega's new strategy will include releasing Atlus games simultaneously worldwide and on several systems, a massive departure for how the company usually handles such releases.

Atlus games such as Catherine Classic have also recently arrived on Steam with even less of a delay than usual, while Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster launched on Steam last month as part of Sega's global expansion efforts.
