Nintendo has teamed up with GungHo Online Entertainment to announce Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition for Nintendo 3DS. As the name suggests, the game draws its formula from that of popular puzzle role-playing game Puzzle & Dragons, which was first released by GungHo in 2012.
"King Koopa (Bowser) has kidnapped Princess Peach."However, Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition will feature several iconic Mario characters including Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, and Bowser. The game is scheduled for release in Japan on April 29. No word has been received of a release outside of Japan.
Puzzle & Dragons is a hugely popular mobile game from Gung Ho Online, netting over 30 million downloads in Japan. Gameplay revolves around players commanding a team of monsters to explore dungeons, do battle, and collect treasures. Battles themselves are conducted through a puzzle game similar in style to Bejewelled.
