Natalie Portman Hasn't Seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens Yet-March 2024
Mar 16, 2025 10:29 PM

Natalie Portman, who played a leading role in the Star Wars prequels, has not yet seen Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. The actress appeared on Good Morning America today where she made the revelation.

"I haven't been able to see it yet," she said, going to on to say that she's only heard good things about the sci-fi blockbuster, according to People Magazine. "It's so nice that it's sort of this continuing part of everyone's shared cultural knowledge."

She didn't say why she hasn't been able to see it yet or if she plans to, however.

Portman played Padmé Amidala (the mother of Luke and Leia) in the prequel trilogy. Episodes 1-3 aren't as highly regarded as the original trilogy or The Force Awakens, but they were box office smashes.

Despite that, Portman told New York Magazine in 2014 that after the movies came out she had a hard time finding work.

"Everyone thought I was a horrible actress," she said at the time. "I was in the biggest-grossing movie of the decade, and no director wanted to work with me."

Portman, now 35, starred in Darren Aronofsky's 2010 psychological thriller Black Swan, a performance that earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress.

The Force Awakens isn't exactly hurting as a result of Portman not seeing it. The film is the No. 3 movie of all time at the box office ($1.73 billion-plus), only behind James Cameron movies Titanic and Avatar.
