Daimyo Hermitaur is a newly introduced monster in MH Rise: Sunbreak, but a returning one for the series, so you might already have dealt with it in the past. This giant crab is pretty easy to fight if you have a good build and is the key to unlocking the new Master Rank (MR) introduced with the expansion. However, if you’re struggling with this monster and need some help beating it, we got you covered.
In this guide, you will find all the information you need on Daimyo Hermitaur, its weaknesses, and tips for completing the Uninvited Guest - Hunt a Daimyo Hermitaur quest.
The monster Daimyo Hermitaur is weak to Thunder and also Fire. If you are struggling to beat it, bring a weapon with a Thunder elemental attribute with you and wear armor that offers a high level of protection against water attacks. This giant crab’s weak point is the head, and its legs and arm are also quite vulnerable. It will frequently use its claws to guard against attacks, and most of your offensives will bounce off against them. However, you can use a Sonic Bomb to break its defensive position and start attacking again.
If you are having a bad time against Daimyo Hermitaur, dodge its attacks until you learn its moves and prepare your counter-offensive accordingly. You can also use the Wyvern Ride system to mount a non-target monster, attack the giant crab and deal massive damage to it. Once defeated, you will get the chance to collect interesting monster materials that can be used to craft new weapons and armor with a higher rarity level than the ones you have equipped.
To start a new quest, just head to the freshly-unlocked Outpost Quest Counter, run by Chichae the Quest Damsel. You will initially do a training quest to learn the basics of the new Switch Skill Swap feature. When completed, select Hub Quest: Master Rank and go through the requested Key Quests. As for the base game, you will grind through each MR as soon as Key Quests and the following Urgent Quest are done.
