Mass Effect Andromeda might have been delayed to early 2017, but this doesn't mean we're any less excited to learn more about it.
The first chapter of this new adventure in the Mass Effect universe will be based in the Andromeda galaxy rather than the Milky Way, as suggested by the title. A recent survey sent out by Electronic Arts might indicate that colonialism will play a significant part in Mass Effect Andromeda.
Experience the freedom to traverse and explore a planet-dense but seamless open-world galaxy, rich with discovery. Play as the leader of a squad of military-trained explorers in an intense third-person shooter, with deep progression and customization systems.
This is the story of humanity’s next chapter, and player choices throughout the game will ultimately determine our survival in the Andromeda Galaxy.
Mass Effect Andromeda will use the latest version of Frostbite, of course. There's a strong likelihood that it will support DirectX 12 too: the engine already supports it, and about a year ago Frostbite's Technical Director Johan Andersson wished to require Windows 10/DirectX 12 as the minimum specification for Holiday 2016 titles.
The official gameplay reveal will likely occur during E3 2016, though Electronic Arts won't be at the showfloor. They are organizing an EA Play event instead, with the press conference already scheduled for June 12 at 1PM PT/9PM BST. Obviously, we'll report on all the relevant information from the event about Mass Effect Andromeda.
