Oct 22, 2024 9:39 PM

Electronic Arts has today announced that its recently formed EA Partners division has signed a distribution and publishing agreement with Square Enix for Final Fantasy X-2 throughout Europe and other PAL territories. Final Fantasy X-2 was released in Japan in March, is scheduled for release in North America in December, and, as a result of today's announcement, will be available in Europe and PAL territories early in 2004.

"Square Enix has a long-standing reputation for developing incredibly creative properties of the highest quality," said Frank Sagnier, vice president of EA Partners Europe. "FFX-2 is a breakthrough in the Final Fantasy series in terms of gameplay, as it appeals to its core fans whilst its enhanced accessibility will attract an even broader consumer base."

"We are absolutely thrilled to offer Final Fantasy X-2 to the PAL market," added Tom Yoshikai, deputy managing director of Square Enix Europe. "We at Square Enix Europe will be working hard with Electronic Arts to ensure that this latest addition to the Final Fantasy series is a big hit with both our existing fans and newcomers alike."

Final Fantasy X-2 is the sequel to Final Fantasy X, and follows the story of one of the original game's central characters--the young summoner Yuna. For more information on Final Fantasy X-2, check out our previous coverage of the game.
