　　[UPDATE] Publisher Deep Silver has now officially announced Dead Island 2. The game will launch in spring 2015 across PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Spec Ops: The Line developer Yager is building the game. The open-world game is set "several months" after the original and takes place in California.

　　Dead Island 2 will feature melee combat, role-playing game elements, and "never-before-seen" handcrafted weapons. In the game, powered by Unreal Engine 4, you'll visit places like the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and Venice Beach.

　　There's also "seamless" multiplayer for up to eight players. You can "cooperate, compete, or simply coexist," Deep Silver says. It's all part of this "new-gen multiplayer experience." Finally, Dead Island 2 features a handful of dedicated classes that offer unique gameplay, including the action-focused Berserker and the stealth Hunter.

　　Tonight during Sony's E3 press conference, the company officially announced Dead Island 2. The company revealed the game through a slick CG trailer that showed a man jogging through a beachside location, who ultimately became infected. You can watch the trailer above.

　　Dead Island 2 is a successor to Dead Island: Riptide, which launched for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in 2013. Spec Ops: The Line developer Yager is working on Dead Island 2, which launches in spring 2015.
