Apart from the news that Angry Birds creator Rovio Mobile is expanding into Hong Kong and Shanghai, there were other highlights that popped up from the recent Asia Online Game Awards held by the Hong Kong Game Industry Association in Hong Kong. According to a recent press release, publisher Shanda Games received three awards from the show for the action role-playing game Dragon Nest.
The action RPG nabbed awards for best design and best engine tech. The awards are "China's Most Popular Online Game Award," "Asia Best Design Award," and "Asia Best Technology Award." While Eyedentity Games was the developer of the game, Shanda Games is the parent company of the studio as it wholly acquired the studio last fall.
In recent news, Dragon Nest SEA's open beta is slated for August 16. For more information on the action RPG, check out GameSpot's recent preview of the closed beta.
