Now Playing: Shoothouse Map | Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
The new map is reportedly called Las Almas and it will come during Season 1, which is reportedly set for sometime at the start of December. Modern Warfare III's Zombies mode will basically be "Outbreak 2.0," Insider-Gaming reported. The site went on to report that Activision is holding internal discussions now to determine if this should be included in the premium release or released separately as a free-to-play game.
There has been much discussion and uncertainty surrounding this year's new Call of Duty game. It was initially reported that there would be no new game at all in 2023, but later, Activision confirmed there would be the usual "annual premium release" in 2023.
Insider-Gaming previously reported that 2023's new COD will be "heavily connected" to the Modern Warfare series. That is no big surprise considering the popularity of that franchise--2022's Modern Warfare II hit $1 billion in revenue in 10 days, the fastest ever for the series.
All Call of Duty games are now developed on the same engine, no matter which studio is leading development, so fans can expect COD 2023--what the game is--to presumably "feel" similar to Modern Warfare II.
Things could change, but for now, Insider-Gaming reported that COD 2023 will launch on November 10, with campaign early access starting November 2. Beta weekends will take place October 6-10 (for PlayStation) and October 12-16 (for everyone), the report said.
Looking further out, Activision's Treyarch studio will reportedly take the reins and lead development on a new Call of Duty game for 2024. Supposed concept art leaked in 2022.
Activision typically does not comment on rumors about upcoming Call of Duty games. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.
