Throughout the past six months, a number of well-known, respected, and powerful executives have resigned from Atari. Today, the international publisher's CFO, David Fremed, joined a list of recently departed Atari execs, which includes Steve Allison (now with Midway Games), Jason Bell (now with Turbine Entertainment), and Steve Ackrich (now with Sammy Studios).
Fremed had been part of the Atari organization since 2000, when he was hired from Marvel Comics (where he also acted as CFO). His departure form Atari is effective immediately.
In a statement, Fremed said he left Atari to pursue a new business venture. "While I have enjoyed my years at Atari immensely, the chance to build a new business from the ground up was an opportunity I could not pass up. I am quite comfortable that Atari is in a solid financial condition and positioned to pursue new growth opportunities."
Harry Rubin, Atari senior executive vice president, will step in for Fremed until a new CFO is picked.
