Assassin's Creed Origins, the new entry in the series by Ubisoft, has yet to be released on PC and consoles and the publisher already confirmed some of the additional content that will be released next year for the game.
Today, Ubisoft confirmed that a combat-free, exploration focused mode called Discovery Tour will be released in early 2018. In this mode, players will be able to explore the recreation of Ancient Egypt without any sort of constraint.
In this dedicated mode, players can free roam the entire interactive 3D recreation of Ancient Egypt in Assassin's Creed Origins, free of combat, storyline or time constraints. From Alexandria to Memphis, the Nile Delta to the Great Sand Sea, the Giza plateau to the Faiyum Oasis, players can immerse themselves like never before in the rich history of Ancient Egypt. Discovery Tour will offer dozens of guided tours curated by historians and Egyptologists, each with a focus on a different aspect of Ptolemaic Egypt, such as the Great Pyramids, mummification or the life of Cleopatra.
Creative Director Jean Guesdon provided some more details regarding the mode.
The The Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed : Ancient Egypt will allow visitors to roam and explore the entire world of Egypt that was recreated in Assassin’s Creed Origins. From Alexandria to Memphis, from the Nile Delta to the Sand Sea, from The Giza plateau to the Faiyum Oasis, visitors will be immersed like never before in Ancient Egypt. In addition to the “free roaming experience”, the The Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed : Ancient Egypt will also offer guided tours that focus on different aspects of that time period (the Great Pyramids, the mummification, Cleopatra, Temples and priests, Daily life etc) and also a little about the science of Egyptology and how the team integrated this into the immersive world. Like in a museum, each tour will be composed of several stops (e.g.: the different states of the mummification process) that will bring information on each specific subject. Tours have been curated by specialists that helped us bring a more academic knowledge to the experience. It will be possible to explore Egypt with several different avatars, which will mostly be unlocked by the completion of tours.
Assassin's Creed Origins launches on October 27th on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. You can check out a fresh preview of the game by going here.
