Take Two Interactive showed up at the videogames.com offices Monday with the Blam! guys, the DMA Design guys, and a monkey and trainer. No, this isn't the opening line of a joke, but rather the norm for demos these days. Take Two is publishing both games we saw, Monkey Hero and Space Station Silicon Valley.
Blam! has been working on Monkey Hero, a PlayStation 3D adventure, for a while now and came in to show off the fruits of its labor. The game is a bright, youthful adventure established around the Chinese tale of the Monkey King. The levels we played looked pretty good so far. The puzzles won't break your back, but they're well designed and amusing - loaded with crates to throw and barrels to roll toward enemies. Monkey Hero is not expected until November, so keep checking up with videogames.com for more information as the release date approaches.
DMA Design, on the other hand, is just about ready to launch Space Station Silicon Alley off the pad. The N64 title is expected to go into beta in about two weeks and features the player as a roaming microchip, jumping from animal carcass to animal carcass taking on the mannerisms of each particular character in order to solve each level's mission, and ultimately, the game. The game was nearly complete when videogames.com saw it, containing most of the gameplay elements, with the exception of some sounds.
Space Station had much more available than we saw at E3, with large, colorful levels and animals with unique personalities and charming characteristics, such as spitting, farting, and leaving exploding butt "mines." Space Station is expected to hit stores in October, so stay with us for the final word.
