In this game you play as the captain of your own ship as you go through space. Explore the unknown. Engauge in combat with other players and NPCs. Fly missions for cash and faction reputation. Buy or build better ships and upgrades. Mine and refine resources to build up facilities and create products. Buy and sell goods to stations or on the player market. Enhance and upgrade your facilities, add defenses and other modules to help protect your stuff and achieve your goals. Play solo, with friends in a party, or join an organization.

The game is setup to be played pretty casually with all controls being mouse driven, though keyboard shortcuts will also be enabled by default. While casual there is some depth to the game in stuff like the base management, running an organization, maximizing mining operations, and stuff like that.

The game is still in a very early state. Many of the features are not yet implemented. Below is a kind of ordered list of how I want to work through developing this project. I am currently working on the first two on the list and hope to move on to base building soon. Update: I am well into step 3, base building, now.

  The Steps to Space:

  - Ship/Space controls - Stations and menus (server shops, ship storage, etc.) - Base building - Mining and refining - UI graphic overhaul - Social (Parties, Orgs, and chat rooms, player market) - Content (New factions, new ships, new locations, POIs, and missions) - Balance (Ship stats, prices, everything) I have a general order that I plan on implementing new features based off the 'Steps to Space' but due to feature dependency I might have to jump ahead here and there to add a workable reference. For example, to get the basic global chat working I had to write a bunch of code that will not be fully used until the social update comes out. I'll also need to need to consider stuff like balance throughout the development process, but I have a plan to try and really nail it down towards the end of development.
