A "sténopé" is the french name for a Pinhole camera : it's the simpliest photograpic device where the light go through a tiny hole, then is projects into a chemical sheet on the other side of a black box. The picture is revealed during a chemical reaction. The sténopé can capture an image with a close to infinite depth of field. The device was (presumably) invented by Ibn al-Haytham.
