Pakko is a brave fox who loves throwing his boomerang in the comfort of his humble taiga forest home. However, there is one thing that Pakko fears above all else - the dark. To keep his fear at bay, he always sleeps with a jar of fireflies by his bed.

　　One day, everything changes when the sun disappears, and the forest is consumed by darkness. An evil Mage has stolen the sun to absorb its power, unleashing a horde of savage plants that destroy everything in their path. The Mage also kidnaps every animal in sight, draining them of their energy to further fuel his own strength.

　　Pakko narrowly escapes the Mage's grasp and seeks out the Elder Owl for guidance. But his journey is fraught with peril, and he must be careful as he traverses the now-dangerous forest. Along the way, he encounters a strange new species - the giant big-nosed potato - which only adds to his trepidation.
